Inspiring Success Stories from Hoffman Homes

At just 14 years old, Alicia J. arrived at Hoffman Homes after experiencing circumstances no child should endure. Born to a young mother and separated from her at birth due to family pressures, Alicia spent her early years in foster care. She later endured severe abuse, which ultimately led to her placement at Hoffman Homes.

Alicia lived in Emmanuel House for approximately two years. During that time, she found something she had not previously known — safety, stability, and the opportunity to begin healing. Through the care and support she received, Alicia was able to process her trauma and begin rebuilding her life.

While she was at Hoffman Homes, something extraordinary happened. Her mother found her, regained custody, and the two were reunited. Together, they went on to build a wonderful life. Alicia was also introduced to three brothers she had never known, restoring connections that had once seemed lost forever.

Now 65 years old, Alicia reflects on her time at Hoffman Homes with deep gratitude. So much so that she is currently writing a book and plans to include Hoffman Homes as part of her story — recognizing the role the organization played in her healing and future.
